The epitope was deduced by noting that the peptide MGFGLFD was not able to compete antibodies off of R13 bound to BSA. The antibodies bound to EEEDDDMGFGLFD in an ELISA. The predominant immunoglobulins seen after immunization were IgG1 and IgG2. IgG3 and IgE were also seen.
