Of the 19 anti-HCMV IgM positive serum samples tested, 9 recognized the fusion protein containing this epitope, 6 of which did so strongly. The reactivity towards a fusion protein where a 2nd epitope from this HCMV protein was also present was higher than the sum of the reactivities to the individually expressed epitopes.
