| name: |
Antibodies to an Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen synthetic peptide in infectious mononucleosis. Report of two cases.
|
| description: |
This peptide was synthesized and tested with a C-terminal cystein residue.
Using sequential sera from two donors with infectious mononucleosis, the antibody response was monitored. A specific IgM response was detected to the epitope during the acute phase of the illness, while in the convalescent phase the response was IgG-dominated, with a decline in IgM levels. This response was observed in both heterophil-positive and heterophil-negative EBV infectious mononucleosis.
