| name: |
Low immunogenicity of a Plasmodium vivax circumsporozoite protein epitope bound by a protective monoclonal antibody.
|
| description: |
The peptide is a hexamer of four consecutive amino acids found in the repeat sequence of the circumsporozoite protein of several strains of Plasmodium vivax.
Sera from 2 immunized monkeys reacted with the epitope but not with the recombinant protein VIVAX-1, which contains monomeric AGDR and approximately 60% of the CS protein from P. vivax strain Belem. Preincubation of the sera with the epitope, but not VIVAX-1, removed antibody reactivity.
