Identification of IgE- and IgG-binding epitopes on alpha(s1)-casein: differences in patients with persistent and transient cow's milk allergy.
|
| description: |
The epitope sequence was deduced through study of overlapping decapeptides spanning the sequence of alpha-S1-casein. The epitope was a major IgG binding region based on cumulative densitometric ODs. The epitope was recognized by 56% of patients (> 9 years) with persistent cow's milk allergy (CMA) and by 63% of younger patients (< 3 years), who are likely to outgrow their CMA. The epitope sequence partially overlaps an IgE binding epitope (residues 83-102).
