name:
Hypoallergenic variants of the major latex allergen Hev b 6.01 retaining human T lymphocyte reactivity.
description:
The sequence is an analog of Hev b 6.02 (hevein
Swiss-Prot no. P02877) with a Cys to Ala substitution at position 3.
The epitope activated basophils from 3 of 6 latex-allergic subjects as detected by expression of CD63 on high IgE staining cells. The epitope was not as effective as wild type Hev b 6.02 (hevein) in activating basophils from 5 of the 6 patients.
