name:
Peptide mimotopes selected from a random peptide library for diagnosis of Epstein-Barr virus infection.
description:
This epitope is a mimotope of Epstein Barr virus GP125 (BALF4) antigen. Authors do not assign this mimicry to a particular region on the antigen.
This peptide is able to discriminate IgM reactivity from sera of patients with recent or early stage active EBV infection (IgM positive) from those with past infection, or from EBV seronegative individuals infected with CMV, parvovirus, varicella-zoster and herpes simplex virus, or positive for rheumatoid factor. Sensitivity was highly improved when the peptide was coupled to BSA for solid-phase binding.
