name:
Heterotypic protection induced by synthetic peptides corresponding to three serotypes of foot-and-mouth disease virus.
description:
This peptide is comprised of two epitopes (RHKQKIIAPAKQLL , aa 189-202, and GSGRRGDMGSLAARVVKQ, aa 129-146) derived from the VP1 protein of foot and mouth disease virus strain A24 Cruzeiro, Genbank accession no. 130446. The peptides are linked by the amino acid residues PPS and are synthesized with two amino-terminal cysteine residues and a carboxy-terminal PCG.
Protection of two of three animals was achieved in homotypic challenge. At the lower dose, 1/3 cattle were protected.
