name:
Disease-specific B Cell epitopes for serum antibodies from patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and serologic detection of SARS antibodies by epitope-based peptide antigens.
description:
This author-identified mimotope was panned from a random peptide phage-display library using serum from acute SARS-CoV patients and according to authors bears sequence homology with residues 18-27 of CDS4 of SARS-CoV.
The assay confirms that the epitope (mimotope) itself generated antibodies against SARS-CoV using SARS-CoV infected Vero cells for detection of antibody-binding. A competitive immunofluorescence assay (IFA) was used to test the abilitiy of synthetic peptide to compete with SARS-CoV for binding of antibody.
