Role of S-layer protein antigenic diversity in the immune responses of sheep experimentally challenged with Campylobacter fetus subsp. fetus.
|
| description: |
This epitope corresponds to the 184aa N-terminal region, which is conserved in all SLPs described to date. This peptide contains an epitope for rabbit and sheep humoral immune response. In rabbits, adjacent overlapping peptide 10 (aa 91-110) is recognized strongly, suggesting epitope is in sequence aa 91-100, but sheep did not significantly recognize peptide 10. Also known as Surface array protein (SAP), member of a family of proteins in the bacteria surface and related to its virulence.
Significant differences in reactivity to this peptide among both immune sera and pooled preimmune sera is seen. Peptides were covalently linked to the ELISA plated via EDC / NHS immobilization chemistry.
