This epitope was identified using a serotype-specific monoclonal antibody of dengue virus type 1 through a phage display library. It mimicks the sequence HKYSWK, which corresponds to amino acids 111 to 116 of the nonstructural protein of dengue virus type 1.
Binding of the monoclonal antibody, 15F3-1, to a phage clone was shown to be inhibited by the peptide P14M.
