Synthetic peptides derived from SARS coronavirus S protein with diagnostic and therapeutic potential.
|
| description: |
The sera from peptide-immunized rabbits showed specific binding to the S protein and its S1 and S2 fragments. The S protein and its fragments were isolated from E. coli expressed protein. Binding was also observed to the native S protein from the lysates of SARS-CoV infected Vero E6 cells. The peptide was also analyzed for its ability to inhibit syncytia formation as an indicator of its virus neutralizing activity (syncytia formation was used to mimic the SARS-CoV infection procedure). No significant syncytia formation inhibition was observed.
