| name: |
Characterization of new epidemic strains of influenza B virus by using neutralizing monoclonal antibodies.
|
| description: |
Two laboratory induced antigenic variants of influenza B virus B/Kadoma/122/99 produced negative responses to the monoclonal antibodies in PAP staining, hemagglutination-inhibition, and neutralization tests. The variants were found to have single amino acid substitutions at position 141 (Gly to Arg) or position 149 (Arg to Gly). Several natural epidemic variants were also shown to contain the mutation at position 149.
