description:	This epitope was mapped in previous studies. The monoclonal antibody (MAb5) is a known anti-toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 antibody. MAb5 inhibited ¹²⁵I-labeled toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 binding to human monocytes. MAb5 also inhibited toxic shock syndrome toxin-1-induced T cell mitogenesis in human PBMC and was further shown to inhibit toxic shock syndrome toxin-1-induced TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, and IL-6 production from human PBMC.
