This epitope was mapped in previous studies.
The monoclonal antibody (MAb5) is a known anti-toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1) antibody. Epitope mapping of TSST-1, revealed that MAb5 binds to a region on the TSST-1 molecule corresponding to amino acid residues 51-56. This monoclonal antibody was also mapped to epitope sequences within both staphylococcal enterotoxin A and staphylococcal enterotoxin B.
