Epitopes were analyzed for putative T-cell epitopes using 2 algorithms: Rothbard's motif in association with alpha helix formation, and AMPHI, a program based on the amphipathic helical characteristics of the peptides. Peptide 6-2 contained the entire AMPHI-predicted sequence. The Swiss Pot sequence is from MVE 1-51, but the strain used in the paper is Ord River.
Anti-peptide antisera also reacted with peptide 6 STEWRNREILVEFEEPHATKQS, 6-2 LVEFEEPHATKQS and 6-3 EILVEFEEPHATKQS, but did not react with 6-1 STEWRNREILVE.
