| name: |
Distinct glycoprotein inhibitors of influenza A virus in different animal sera.
|
| description: |
The key residue was identified based on sequence analysis of viral variants that did not react with anti-H3 HA monoclonal antibodies in hemagglutination-inhibition assays.
Variants of the parent influenza A virus, A/Los Angeles/2/87(H3N2), were selected based on serum-inhibition resistance to normal horse, pig, and rabbit sera (which contain inhibitors of infectivity and hemagglutinating activity of influenza A viruses of H2 and H3 subtypes) and were examined at the molecular level for changes in the HA molecule aquired during the development of serum inhibitor resistance.
