description:	This key residue from antigenic site 2 was identified by sequence analysis of viral escape mutants. The amino acid position provided in the manuscript does not correspond to the sequence provided in the SwissProt entry cited. Viral escape mutants of the parent virus were selected for their resistance to neutralization by the monoclonal antibody, and their hemagglutinin-esterase glycoprotein genes were subsequently sequenced. Two distinct variants were selected.
