Location of neutralizing epitopes on the hemagglutinin-esterase protein of influenza C virus.
|
| description: |
This key residues from antigenic site 4 were identified by sequence analysis of viral escape mutants. The amino acid positions provided in the manuscript do not correspond to the sequence provided in the SwissProt entry cited.
Viral escape mutants of the parent virus were selected for their resistance to neutralization by the monoclonal antibody, and their hemagglutinin-esterase glycoprotein genes were subsequently sequenced. Three distinct variants were selected. Amino acid changes at residue 266 were shown to increase hemagglutinating activity.
