Nucleocapsid formation and/or subsequent conformational change of rabies virus nucleoprotein (N) is a prerequisite step for acquiring the phosphatase-sensitive epitope of monoclonal antibody 5-2-26.
|
| description: |
The epitope-specific mAb precipitated wild-type nucleoprotein, but not single residue mutants S389A or S389T nucleoproteins, confirming this residue is critical for mAb binding. The mAb only reacted with the nucleocapsid fraction of rabies virus-infected BHK-21 cells. It was also shown that phosphorylation at the epitope residue was required for the mAb recognition. Western blots showed similar results.
