Chemical chaperones enhance superantigen and conventional antigen presentation by HLA-DM-deficient as well as HLA-DM-sufficient antigen-presenting cells and enhance IgG2a production in vivo.

| description: |
This study was performed to asses the adjuvant effect of glycerol on the response against TNP, by comparing to the injection in PBS and bound to alum. It was seen that even when there was no enhancement of the primary response by glycerol at 2 different concentrations, the secondary reponse was enhanced over alum for the IgG2a isotype, while similar than alum for IgG1. Thus, although the adjuvant effect of glycerol in vivo is relatively weak, it may serve for favoring Th1 responses.
