description:	Peptide 1 (aa 231-250) was derived from the sequence of the antigen 85 protein complex, MPB59, using overlapping 20mers. The cloning and expression of this gene from Mycobacterium bovis is described in Matsuo K et al. J Bacteriol 1988 170:3847-3854. Polyclonal anti-MPB59 rabbit sera was tested for reactivity against a panel of 28 peptides spanning the length of the MPB59 protein. Rabbit sera bound to several peptides, with the maximal response directed against peptides 17 and 26. No reponse was detected for this peptide.
