name:
Characterization of human antibody responses to four corners hantavirus infections among patients with hantavirus pulmonary syndrome.
description:
The Four Corners virus nucleocapsid-specific epitope was mapped by using nested sets of serially deleted fusion proteins. The mapping of the amino and carboxy-termini boundaries localized the reactivity to a segment between amino acids 17-59. Four Corners virus nucleocapsid antibodies were also shown to cross-react with Prospect Hill virus and Puumala virus nucleocapsid proteins, possibly due to this dominant epitope. The epitoperecognized by antibodies present in control serum samples were different from the epitopes recognized by patient antibodies, suggesting that the control antibody reactivities were unrelated to Four Corners virus infections.
