name:
Mapping of the antigenic determinants recognized by monoclonal antibodies against the M2 protein of rabies virus.
description:
Epitope is located in the M2 protein of Rabies virus. The actual sequence was found in a previous paper, Mannen et al (1991) Virus Genes 5:69-73, (PubMed 2017877).
The experiment involved noting the capacity of monoclonal antibodies to precipitate in vitro translation procucts by truncated cDNAs of the M2 gene. The epitope is deduced from truncation analysis, showing binding to certain rabies polypeptides and lack of binding to others. MoAb 6 is IgG2a, while the others are IgG1.
