| name: |
T-cell determinants and antibody binding sites on the major mycobacterial secretory protein MPB59 of Mycobacterium bovis.
|
| description: |
Peptide 1 (aa 231-250) was derived from the sequence of the antigen 85 protein complex, MPB59, using overlapping 20mers. The cloning and expression of this gene from Mycobacterium bovis is described in Matsuo K et al. J Bacteriol 1988
170:3847-3854.
MPB59-reactive sera from TB patients were tested by ELISA against the 28 overlapping 20mer peptides spanning the MPB59 protein of M. bovis. While individual serum samples bound to variable numbers of peptides, the majority bound strongly to peptides 8 and 9. No response was observed for peptide 20.
