Mutations at site II aa G40 and S42 affect both neutralization and binding of mAb PVE. Whereas, mutations at site II aa R184 and K198 affect neutralization without affecting the binding of mAb PVE.In another experiment, mutation in AA K198 resulted in reduced pathogenicity after intramuscular inoculation of the virus in adult mice.
