Immunological characterizations of the nucleocapsid protein based SARS vaccine candidates.

| description: |
Peptides derived from the SARS CoV N protein sequence were synthesized as 15-mer fragments with 10 amino acid overlaps that covered the entire length of the N protein of the Urbani.
In order to identify immunodominant B cell epitopes within the N protein of SARS CoV, a panel of 80 overlapping 15mer peptides representing the entire protein were screened for reactivity to sera from immunized Formosan macaques. This peptide was found to induce significant reactivity. The authors identified residues 156-175 as an immunodominant epitope.
