name:
Identification of immunodominant epitopes on the membrane protein of the severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus.
description:
E1 glycoprotein is also referred to as matrix glycoprotein or membrane glycoprotein. The sequence of the epitope was derived from the genomic sequence of the M protein of SARS described in Marra M. et al. Science 2003.
Peptides that were less than 10% (4 responders out of 40 subjects) were considered negative. In another, experiment, a mixture of proteins purified from viral lysates of SARS coronavirus were used as coating antigen in ELISA. A total of forty serum samples were obtained from SARS patients and were tested positive by ELISA. All samples tested positive.
