Exploring the basis of peptide-carbohydrate crossreactivity: evidence for discrimination by peptides between closely related anti-carbohydrate antibodies.
|
| description: |
Peptide selected from a random X15 peptide library by an anti-Salmonella serotype group B O-antigen antibody.
The phage displayed peptide is shown to be recognized by the mAb used for immunopanning, with a reactivity higher or similar than that towards other consensus-bearing (YPM) peptides. This peptide doesn't crossreact with other 5 anti-carbohydrate antibodies. The binding is shown not to be inhibited by incubation with the cognate trisaccharide methyl 3-O-(3,6-dideoxy-alpha-D-xylohexopyranosyl)-2-O-alpha-D-galactopyranosyl-alpha-D-mannopyranoside , implying that the recognition of the peptide is not at or near the carbohydrate binding site.
