Denatured BLV virions were used in a competitive ELISA to inhibit the binding of epitope-specific mAb 14F10 to disrupted BLV virions. The denatured BLV virions were able to inhibit binding, but native BLV was not, suggesting that the epitope is inaccessible on native virions.
