The amino acid sequences are provided in Pevear et al. (1987) J Virol 61:1507, and the exact sequences were confirmed by the author via e-mail. The paper references amino acid positions of the processed VP2 peptide, whereas the sequence source database uses the amino acid positions of the genomic polyprotein from which the peptide is derived.
Antisera from all three strains of mice generated using subcutaneous injection and from SJL/J and BALB/c mice using intracranial injection reacted with this epitope in immunoblots. Authors state that a synthetic peptide was used to confirm this reactivity.
