| name: |
Induction of a protective immunity against Schistosoma mansoni with ovalbumin-coupled Sm37-5 coadsorbed with granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) or IL-12 on alum.
|
| description: |
Upon challenge, the level of protection was significant whether GM-CSF (yielded a 32.5-37.9% reduction in the number of worms) or IL-12 (yielded a 27.3% reduction in worm number) was used as adjuvant. In a separate experiment, mice immunized with co-absorption of GM-CSF also had a significant reduction (60.5%) in the number of parasite eggs in the liver after challenge.
