Epitope mapping for the monoclonal antibody was performed with octameric peptides spanning the entire invasion plasmid antigen C (IpaC) protein of Shigella flexneri. The exact linear amino acid sequence of each monoclonal antibody epitope was defined as the common sequence of amino acids within the overlapping octameric peptides that were reactive with the monoclonal antibodies.
