The 16M O-polysaccharide is a homopolymer of 4,6 dideoxy-4-formamido-alpha-D-mannopyranose residues composed of one alpha1,3-linked and four alpha1,2-linked monosaccharide residues.
The antibody, previously shown to bind to B. melitensis O-polysaccharide, detects B. melitiensis 16M S-LPS by double gel diffusion.
