Molecular characterization of the humoral response to the 41-kilodalton flagellar antigen of Borrelia burgdorferi, the Lyme disease agent.
|
| description: |
The authors name the fragment A1-37, but it starts at residue Ile2 instead of Met1.
Fragment A of the 41-kDa flagellar antigen from B. burgdorferi N40 was cloned into a bacterial expression vector and expressed as a glutathione-S-transferase fusion protein. Patient sera were preabsorbed with glutathione-S-transferase coupled to Sepharose before use in Western blotting. Patient sera showed weak reactivity to Fragment A, which has homology to other bacterial flagellins. Thus the humoral response to A may be relatively non-B. burgdorferi specific.
