| name: |
Opsonic human antibodies from an endemic population specific for a conserved epitope on the M protein of group A streptococci.
|
| description: |
This epitope was identified by testing overlapping peptides of p145, each 12 amino acids in length, inserted into a known helical peptide derived from the DNA binding protein of yeast, GCN4.
The antigen was a chimeric peptide (LEDKVKQARRDLDASREAKKELQDKVKQ) containing the streptococcus epitope (RRDLDASREAKK) inserted in a helical peptide (LEDKVKQA-ELQDKVKQ) derived from the DNA binding protein of yeast. Pre-incubation of pJ2 peptide with p145 affinity-purified IgG resulted in inhibition of opsonization of antibodies bound to streptococcus. .
