This epitope was identified by testing overlapping peptides of p145, each 12 amino acids in length, inserted into a known helical peptide derived from the DNA binding protein of yeast, GCN4.
The antigen used in this assay was constucted by inserting the streptococcus epitope (ASREAKKQVEKA) in a helical peptide (KQAEDKVK-VKQLEDKV) derived from the DNA binding protein of yeast. Pre-incubation of pJ7 peptide with p145 affinity-purified IgG resulted in inhibition of opsonization of antibodies bound to streptococcus. .
