name:
Analysis of antigenicity of Clostridium botulinum type C1 and D toxins by polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies.
description:
This region is conserved in the Type D strains used in this study (SA and 1873) except for the following variations: residues 15-16 ND->PV in strain D-SA, residues 17-18 ND -> LQ in strain D-1873.
Out of 28 monoclonal antibodies obtained from mice immunized with a mixture of toxoids from type C-strain Stockholm, type D-strain 1873 and type D-strain SA, 2 were specific for the light chain components of D-1873 and D-SA and were able to neutralyze the toxin from those strains as well as from the strains D-CB16 and 4947.
