name:
Immunisation with a synthetic prion protein-derived peptide prolongs survival times of mice orally exposed to the scrapie agent.
description:
Mice immunized with a recombinant PrP fragment (PrP 90-230) and subsequently infected by oral exposure to a 10% brain homogenate prepared from a terminally diseased scrapie-strain 139A-infected mouse, did not achieve significant survival times compared to controls. Epitope mapping studies were performed with sera from the mice immunized with the recombinant PrP fragment (PrP 90-230).
