name:
Lack of anti-GOR antibody among subjects with GB virus C/hepatitis G virus RNA.
description:
GOR is a host-derived epitope originally identified in chimpanzees.
Sera from 1 of 75 subjects with GBV-C/HGV RNA, but negative for HCV RNA, reacted with the epitope. Of the 75 subjects, 1of 55 with GBV-C/HGV RNA alone reacted with the epitope. No sera from 20 additional subjects with GBV-C/HGV RNA and reactive with HBsAg reacted with the epitope. The authors conclude that there is no association between GBV-C/HGV infection and antibody reactivity to GOR.
