Sera from all 10 human patients (five patients withlate Lyme arthritis, and five with late neuroborreliosis) tested reacted positively with the peptide. Only four of ten showed reactivity to a 14-mer contained within the 26 amino acids of this peptide, indicating that this host most likely recognizes the entire peptide segment as a single antigenic determinant, possibly nonlinear.
