description:	Blood donations from individuals that tested positive in an HCV immunoassay and were subsequently indeterminate on a supplemental immunoblot anti-HCV assay, were examined for their reactivity to a number of peptides from the HCV protein c22-3. The majority of the indeterminate results are due to nonspecific cross reactivity to this epitope. The epitope used as the antigen was synthesized with a C-terminal cysteine residue
