Mapping of serotype-specific, immunodominant epitopes in the NS-4 region of hepatitis C virus (HCV): use of type-specific peptides to serologically differentiate infections with HCV types 1, 2, and 3.
|
| description: |
This peptide was synthesized as part of panel of overlapping 9-mers representing the consensus sequence of the NS4 of HCV 1a subtypes.
The reactivities of representative anti-HCV positive plasma samples were tested against overlapping peptides corresponding to sequences within the NS4 region of HCV-1. The authors identified two major antigenic regions, aa1691-1708 and aa1710-1728. The investigation of cross-reactivity between HCV genotypes (1a, 1b, 2 and 3) showed that reactivity to heterologous peptides was variable and generally weaker than that to homologous type peptides.
