Sera from patients (up to 10, representing infections with HCV genotypes 1b, 2a and 2c) reacted positively with peptides that contain the epitope. The epitope was elucidated by western blot of overlapping peptides, and only those which contained the epitope were positive. Similar results were obtained in ELISA and FACS analyses. INC, the epitope carrier is the Pseudomonas syringae ice nucleation protein (INP) with a deletion of the internal repeating domain. .
