name:
Expression of tumor-associated Thomsen-Friedenreich antigen (T Ag) in Helicobacter pylori and modulation of T Ag specific immune response in infected individuals.
description:
The T antigen (B-D-Galp-(1-3)-a-D-GalNacp) is the carbohydrate moiety in glycoprotein(s) present in human carcinomas. In Helicobacter pylori extracts the T antigen is detected in ~68 and ~58 kDa protein bands in a western blot.
The human T antigen-specific monoclonal antibodies TF1 and 5C7 detected two major protein bands (~58 and ~68 kDa) on blots of cell surface membrane extracts of H. pylori NCTC 11637 strain and from H. pylori isolates from patients with gastric cancer or duodenal ulcers. Anti-hsp60 serum blocked the binding of TF1 to the ~58 kDa band but not to the ~68 kDa band. In an ELISA, the same monoclonal antibodies bound to H. pylori cells.
