Towards a solution for hepatitis C virus hypervariability: mimotopes of the hypervariable region 1 can induce antibodies cross-reacting with a large number of viral variants.
|
| description: |
The epitope was one of 40 homogeneously distributed sequences selected by principle component analysis from a set of 234 natural HCV hypervariable region 1 matching residues 384-411 of BK strain.
Sera (dilution 1:100) from mice immunized with the multiple antigenic peptide (MAP) of mimotope N5 (sequence: TTTTTGGVQGHTTRGLVRLFSLGSKQN) were tested by ELISA with the epitope synthesized as MAP. Positive reactivity is that when average values from two independent experiments were greater than 3-fold of the background values of two unrelated peptides.
