Of 76 patients who tested positive to anti-HCV by second generation ELISA, 67 responded to the computer predicted peptide, while 9 did not. The 76 patients consisted of 35 with mild chronic liver disease, 28 with liver cirrhosis, and 13 with hepatocellular carcinoma. The detection rates between these groups did not vary significantly.
