description:	Overlapping peptides were synthesized from the viral coat protein (VP1) of coxsackie B3 virus. VP1-6 reacted positively with all three S. pyogenes M type 5-specific monoclonal antibodies tested, however, the magnitude of the response was greatest for mAb 49.8.9. A cystein residue was added to the carboxy-terminus of this peptide for coupling during synthesis.
