description:	Anti peptide 89-104, a monospecific polyclonal antibody raised in rabbits, recognizes PrP^Cof various species. This antibody reacted with sheep, goat and dog PrP, but not with cow, man, pig, cat, mink, guinea pig, hamster and mouse PrP^C.It also reacts with sheep PrP^Scin the absence or presence of proteinase k treatment. Only hamster brain homogenates treated with proteinase k showed a weak reactivity with the antiboby. No reactivity was observed with cow or mouse PrP^Sc.In addition, in antibody competition assays, when antisera were preabsorbed to the peptide prior to immunoblotting, no specific binding to PrP^Cwas observed.
