name:
Measurement of bacterial cell wall in tissues by solid-phase radioimmunoassay: correlation of distribution and persistence with experimental arthritis in rats.
description:
Polyclonal antibodies, affinity purified using the epitope, reacted positively with bacterial cell wall extracts by RIA; the epitope also inhibited this reaction. Rat tissues (liver, spleen, paws, heart, blood, lung and kidney) and urine, collected and processed after cell wall injection (for the induction of arthritis), also reacted positively with the antibodies. This indicates the systemic persistence of bacterial cell wall in the injected rats which correlates with the development of arthritis.
